Golden Embers

My paintings examine unfamiliar spaces and the emotive power of the interplay of form, shapes and pattern. I work with the combination of color and form as a visual, abstract documentation of my day to day.  Layers of Venetian plaster, raw pigment, and wax troweled onto wood panels build up to create quiet spaces. I paint to find unexpected beauty in the relationships between layers of texture and spontaneous marks. Gathered developing an abstract language through painting contemplating aspects of the landscape.

moments.

I am interested in the way multiple perspectives live, move and shift within and on the same plane. My paintings explore varied and dispersed points of view simultaneously. Through the interplay of the rich texture of plaster, fast mark making, and geometric forms, I create spaces which invite multivarious subjects and subjectivities to interact.

Golden Embers is an exploration of memories with my Mom and of my Mom. Jaimee, my mother, has had Frontotemporal Dementia for 15 years. This body of work is about moments, a moment, being in the moment, living for the moment, of the moment, sharing a moment.
