Laura Stack: Unworldly Bodies

Rosalux Gallery presents Unworldly Bodies, an exhibition by Laura Stack. Rooted in biology, Stack's paintings, collages, and pigment prints conjure fictional organisms and biomes pulsing with new life. Her work opens windows to alternate worlds with unique biological phenomena—liminal spaces where the familiar blurs with the unknown. Scale is ambiguous in these abstract images—what appears as a single organic structure might equally be a microscopic cell, an expansive landscape, internal anatomy, or a self-contained universe.

Stack envisions here artwork as living organisms or substances, as if viewing bacteria under a microscope. Nature’s beautiful oddities inspire her: the otherworldly forms of mushrooms and slime mold, and the kaleidoscopic color of marine invertebrates. These sources infuse the work with its abstract imagery and luminous color.

Blurring boundaries between nature and invention, Stack's work invites viewers to imagine future life forms and environments in our rapidly evolving world.
