White Noise: New Work by Tara Costello

Exhibition Dates: 9/10/2022 - 9/25/2022

Opening Reception: Saturday, 9/10 7:00-10:00 PM

Costello has been developing an abstract language through painting, contemplating aspects of quiet places and the practice of painting as meditation. Working with rich Venetian plaster on wood panels with stainless steel trowels, she is particularly interested in the interplay of land, sky and the simplicity of geometric shapes. The malleability of layered plaster allows her to question the facets of time, light, and space. She paints to find beauty in the tension between the illusion of felt spaces and the primitive mark that created them.

Tara Costello lives and works in Minneapolis, MN. She received a BFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and The Burren College of Art in Ireland. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally at galleries including The National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh, and Sears Peyton Gallery in New York City. Minnesota galleries include Soo Visual Arts Center, Soo Local, Circa, and Artistry. Costello’s current affiliations are with the aforementioned Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis, Rubine Red Gallery in Palm Springs, CA and Outermost Art gallery in Provincetown, MA.
